Oregon has some of the highest waterfalls in North
America. I think it's probably possible to hike throughout the year in the
Columbia River Gorge without retracing a single step. There are some really
beautiful trails here - many of them past spectacular waterfalls. Others
can be easily seen from roadside parking areas.
I hope you enjoy these
photos of Oregon.

Multnomah Falls
Multnomah Falls is Oregon's highest
waterfall at 540 feet. You can find it about 31 miles east of Portland and
hardly need to leave your car to see it. |
Triple Falls
Triple Falls will require a bit more
effort to see. You'll need to hike a beautiful trail in the Oneonta Gorge
to reach it - maybe a
3 mile walk. The falls are an impressive 120 feet high. And the ledge where
you'll view them is even higher. Keep a tight leash on any kids - there's
nothing to keep anyone from going right over the edge.

Ponytail Falls from the trail behind it
Ponytail Falls is also in the
Oneonta Gorge. The trail goes behind it through something of a cavern
in the rocks. These falls are also pretty impressive at 80 feet high. |
Ponytail Falls as you're likely to first see them from
the Oneonta Gorge Trail
