The Bureau of Land
Management issues 10 passes per day into "The Wave" on a first-come, first-serve
basis. Openings for each day's passes become available six months in advance and
these passes are taken almost instantly. Another 10 passes per day become
available by lottery one day in advance, but are issued only at the local BLM
office on Highway 89 (between mile posts 25 & 26, about halfway between Kanab
and Page).
The trailhead for "The Wave" is located at the Wirepass trailhead area about
8 miles south of Highway 89 on House Rock Valley Road. Wirepass also
serves as the trailhead into Buckskin Gulch - another beautiful area to hike
into.
For those of you with a GPS system, the coordinates for The Wave
(as provided by the BLM) are:
36 degrees 59 minutes 47 seconds north
112 degrees 0 minutes 26 seconds west
