There are several beautiful harbors along the shoreline in the area around Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. From Bar Harbor, it’s possible to take boats for whale and Puffin watching tours, nature tours to various islands to view birds or seals, or other cruises to simply enjoy the scenery or have dinner. It’s also possible visit various piers to watch the lobster boats returning with their daily catch.

This is Bar Harbor as viewed from the waterfront of the town by the same name.	There are 63 lighthouses in Maine. We first read that the Bass Harbor lighthouse was one of the most photographed in Maine. When we arrived there, a sign indicated that it was one of the most photographed in the northeast. Later, we read it was one of the most photographed on the east coast. And later still, one of the most photographed in North America. In light of this miraculous increase in popularity, we hope to be the very first to report here that this lighthouse is the most photographed in the world.
